What is the difference between single and double angle collets?

Double-angle or DA collets are used when rigidity is critical as their two tapers allow for greater clamping force, but they are expensive, finicky, and can lose their precision over time. Single angle collets, like ER collets, offer better overall precision, tool life, and performance at the expense of total clamping force compared to DA collets.
